LISA LA TOUCHE - BIO

Originally from Canada, now resident of  New York City, Lisa’s platforms have ranged from the Beijing International Dance Festival as a dancer, choreographer and American media spokesperson, to performing on CBS with r&b/pop star Mya and Emmy Award winning choreographer Jason Samuels Smith. Recent performances have included Jason Samuels Smith’s ACGI (Anybody Can Get It) and “Charlie’s Angels” in tribute to the music of Charlie Parker on Broadway.  She was also a principal dancer in “Tap into Peace”, a story told in tap by way of the music of Stevie Wonder choreographed by Sarah Savelli and Ayodele Casel, and “Sophisticated Ladies”, honoring the music of Duke Ellington.   You can currently see her perform at Harlem’s legendary Cotton Club w/ Dormeshia and Omar Edwards and study with her at Steps on Broadway in NYC and the American Tap Dance Foundation.  She her own group the L-Touch Tap Phonics and works with Joseph Webb and Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Maya Azucena.  She also has co-founded the Tap Messengers with their debut in the Carefusion’s New York City Jazz music Festival with the Revive Da Live Big band featuring Talib Kweli and Nicholas Payton.  She is a member of both Max Pollak’s Rumba Tap and Barbara Duffy and Co., and currently works alongside Cecelia Leal Calloway honoring her father Cab Calloway and his musical Legacy.  

Internationally, Lisa has taught and performed at the Brazilian Tap Festival, Germany’s Munich On Tap, London’s Pineapple Studios, L.A. Tap Festival, The Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s Rhythm World, The St. Louis Tap Festival, San Antonio 3rd Coast Rhythm Project, The Vancouver Tap Festival and the Eastern Canadian Tap Conference to name a few.  While previously living in Chicago, she worked as Artistic Associate for Lane Alexander’s Chicago Human Rhythm Project and performing ensemble BAM!, and also alongside Tre Dumas’ with JusLisTeN. She was Assistant Director and Choreographer for Bril Barrett's M.A.D.D. Rhythms, and founded their International extension, M.A.D.D. Rhythms Canada in her hometown of Calgary, Canada.   She was also mentored by Chicago Jazz dance legend Joel Hall and apprenticed under his renowned ballet/jazz dance company.  Lisa La Touche was also featured in Oct 2010 issue of Dance Spirit magazine and the May 2oo8 issue of Dancer Magazine as an emerging artist and is continuously reaching new platforms in the New York dance and music scene.
